I'm a softy for this winemaker. They are beloved by the cats who run Enotecca Piti Gola in Florence, where they sell old vintages of it by the glass. Every year they send some to me in the States. For me, when I drink it, I'm drinking good memories and it brings me back to a lost time.

Intense ruby red color with hints of garnet on the rim. Perfume-like nose of red cherry/berry fruit with hints of tobacco and wood. Soft and persistent cherry flavor with faint oaky notes. Good structure with balanced acidity and tannins. Great QPR for a Brunello.

One of our favorite wines of our trip, this really showed how 2006 has freshness that's taking it further than 2007 (which is still delicious, but richer). This brunello was rich with fruit but refreshing at the same time, and has sprinkles of development adding complexity, but not so much that you really notice it.
