Philippe Leclerc
Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru La Combe aux Moines Pinot Noir
2006 vintage. Some delicate rich ripe red fruit and burnt wood on nose. Fair acid, dried flower petals, cedar, oak, pine tar. Baking spice, charred oak slight dark fruit and oak tannins. Basically, since this sees 24 months in heavily toasted new oak, it has lots of flavor notes from the barrels. Perhaps too much.

Aug 21st, 2016What an absolute treat to taste this wine. I felt this was at a perfect spot in its evolution. Lots of stewed strawberry and red currant flavors, cranberry tartness, the most intriguing cured meat aroma.....this was just so damn appealing. The finish lasted over a minute. Still had some dusty tannin left and just perfect acidity. This is stupid good.

Jul 4th, 2018All the philipe leclerc premier crus taste similar to me, but they are all good! It’s a similar ‘masculine’ style to the others - red berries and truffles, but I get a distinct smoky /leathery note with this one. (Or maybe it’s the smoky leathery Frenchmen around me when I tasted it....)
