I work in the cellar at a winery in the Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma county California. Sometimes I help in the tasting room as well.
Crunchy, savory. A bit rich and darker than I expected. A fun bottle. Rethinking the stereotypes of the Languedoc. — 8 years ago
Cascina Marcantonio Barbera d'Asti from Acqui Terme. My friend Guido made this wine at his Agritourismo. Although it has some ethyl-acetate notes on the nose early, it opens up to dark fruit, M+ acidity and M- tannins in a nice balanced package. — 8 years ago
1999. Sous bois. Tobacco. Hints of red fruit. Fair acid and tannin balance. Showing age but not too bad. — 8 years ago
2014 vintage. Perhaps some RS. Ripe Grenache profile with some overripe Syrah on the back end. Red fruit and spice. Less than 5€. — 8 years ago
2015 vintage. Rose petal aromatics, light and fresh, hint of bitterness. This sweet and low alcohol (5.5%) is super fun for dessert. I'd love to see this in a cocktail! — 8 years ago
2014 vintage. For less than 6€ on the grocery store shelf, I'm happy. Floral aromatics, red fruit and spice. A hint of herbal green. Cheap, fun. — 8 years ago
2006 vintage. Some delicate rich ripe red fruit and burnt wood on nose. Fair acid, dried flower petals, cedar, oak, pine tar. Baking spice, charred oak slight dark fruit and oak tannins. Basically, since this sees 24 months in heavily toasted new oak, it has lots of flavor notes from the barrels. Perhaps too much. — 8 years ago
2014 vintage. Killer Muscadet for less than 5€ at the grocery store. — 8 years ago
Unknown vintage or NV. Lovely acidity with loads of malic character. Although it wasn't overwhelming with oak and autolytic characters, it had a nice richness about it. Totally enjoyable. — 8 years ago
