And here we have another case of lost potential due to bad cold chain. Sigh. And again, on a wine I typically adore. Compared with the similarly afflicted Keller Hubacker, I thought this fared worse from the condition - there was less fruit to “combat” the petrol notes, but gosh was it viciously mineral. Again, the others on the table enjoyed the wine, but I was so disappointed knowing how the wine usually is. Plus, seeing potential notes like “magnificently fresh and elegant nose of white flowers, bergamot, minty herbs, grapefruit zest, lime, rosemary, and white peach” from MFW made me even sadder.

Team drinks continued with this stunning Riesling from Peter Lauer. I remember reading in David Schildknecht's review of the 2015 that the vineyard from which this gorgeous wine emerges was abandoned and left wild. What a service from those who brought back these ancient vines into production. Wildly complex and almost viscous in texture, this rich, peachy, minerally wine is just gorgeous.

This was one of the best off-dry Rieslings I've ever had. Stunning wine in every way.

I’ve been waiting to taste one of these for ages and I was not disappointed. A perfectly balanced fruit basket glazed with honey.
