Sankt Nikolaus trocken Riesling
Wow, dry, richly fruited and spiced with minerals and also wonderfully wood inflected. Quite a unique view of Rheingau/Germany. Would love to see this in a year like 2015

Mar 13th, 2018Good as F. The tasting note could 3 pages long! So much packed into this wine. Trust me find some, drink some.

Apr 2nd, 2017Second time for me tasting this wine and I'm still impressed by the complexity. So many layers of different aromas. Very impressive. On the palate its a totally differential approach than all the GGs I tasted before. Much rounder, softer with pure elegance and a super, super subtle power. This Sankt Nikolaus plays in a totally different league. Kühn told us that he wants to do a different wine out of the grape variety than the other producers. Like the Tements do in Austria with their Sauvignon Blancs he said.

Nov 23rd, 2016Clear, bright golden yellow color. Intense, developing and astonishing nose, which has nothing in common with usual Rheingau Riesling: tobacco notes, musty apple, ginger tea. Wonderful and unique!
Bone dry. Complex wine with layers and layers of different flavors. Ripe, mellow fruit, salty mineral notes, spices, herbs. Really great! All aromas linger on the palate for very long time. Definitively not an easy drinking wine, it is really demanding, but it makes so much joy to drink. Great potential. A masterpiece.

These wines are cool, and this one I like quite a bit. There is some stonefruit bitterness behind a pleasant amount of bright acid.

Nov 25th, 2023Lemon, lime, but more prominent, yellow apple, stonefruit, physalis and pineapple. Complex nose, very aromatic, very much a sense of sunripe fruit. The acidity is not the highest of Riesling’s, but it’s there. Big old barrels leave no oaky flavours here. Either fully integrated at this stage, or maybe there was never much to begin with.
