Oestricher Doosberg Erstes Gewächs Riesling

A stunning wine. One of the great GG’s of Germany and easily a top 5 Rheingau GG. Soaring aromas of elegant minerals, dash of brown sugar to add complexity, spice notes and sea breeze. So complex and ethereal. Palate is structured, dry and super intense. Wow is this salty and structured. Tighter than the 19 and showing much younger than the 19 did in August. But so precise and stunning. Needs air. Glad I brought another bottle. So dense and concentrated while being light on its feet. What a finish that’s almost tannic.

Key lime, mineral dust, quartz, and a hint of petrol on the nose. Palate is sour green apple fruit, mallow, zest, and lemony acids. Give this time.

Calm, complex, long, holds a lot of interest - chapeau for the refinement of the style, one of a kind.

Not on the same level than the Sankt Nikolaus imo. More on the riper fruit side as the site is warmer. Also very complex in the nose but missing the extra umph I get from the SN. And I'm very curious how it will age, appeals very open & "ready" at the moment.
