Bit of Brett on the nose but pure fruit and tart tannic balance on the palate.

The 2022 Rosso di Montalcino from Livio Sassetti’s Pertimali estate delivers an excellent and savory “Baby Brunello”that displays a deep garnet color, backed up by a balanced structure, with medium+ acidity, and soft, dusty tannins at the finish. A great sipper for tonight’s cool weather.

NOSE: earth, almond, flowers, barnyard, cherry pits, yeast. Italian.
TASTE: as nose - but with more dark fruit than you’d expect…plus cooked meat and cedar. Plenty of tannin. Good! 91.

Open and let it be for 30 minutes or so. Light, not too much fruit and it develops to a really nice finish.
