Penfolds has been producing wines since 1844 and led the development of Australian fine wine in the modern era. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits with sweet notes. On the palate cherry and plum with cacao and vanilla spice. Firm grainy tannins, savory on a medium finish ending with nutty oaky notes. Tasting Sample.

Oct 29th, 2023Fine, nothing wrong with it, maybe the price/quality ratio. Expressive fruit, mostly dark, hints of Syrah like blood, blackberries, chocolate. Medium bodied, tamed tannins, easy, candy.

Apr 14th, 2022From Polar’s old Australian Tasting. This wine was at the end of its tether but still amazing for a 19 year old wine which would have cost less than $10 when released. Past its best and a bit porty on the nose. Idiosyncratic. Penfolds entry level red blend back in the day.

Aug 10th, 2019Good Shiraz Cab blend. Objectively it’s 88 Pts, but I am on Exuma Island, Bahamas, and that makes it feel like 92 Pts, especially after 8 hours cruising through the cays in a small boat.
