1982 this wine was off the freaking charts. When it was first opened it was so incredibly / stupidly youthful. Classic Grange aromas of menthol, black cherry, cocoa and brush. It just kept evolving and shortly after showed some age when the oak separated from the dark fruit. Boy what a wine. No wonder it is a hallmark type wine regardless of region and year. Wow thanks @Ben Edwards

Hard tannic structure that needs more time. Closed. Still a great wine for the future.

Like this one a lot still is showing showing some youth did change quite a bit in the glass over the hour we drank it

Hells yes! This was not subtle but it had a grace that rounded out its muscular physique. Dare I say this was young at 33? Heavy alcohol nose when I popped and decanted which blew off quickly. Lush, deep dark fruit, eucalyptus, pine straw, sweet tar and vanilla spice. A lot going on and all of it good. This shows me that the Grange needs 25 plus years. This is so much more velvety and inviting and complex than a '98 I had last year. A really special bottle.
