Sonoma-Hillsides Syrah

Dark Ruby red color with aromas of ripe dark fruits and an array of spices from cigar box to spice cake. On the palate flavors of black cherry preserves and blackberry jam, layering in some licorice, leather, tobacco and black pepper spice. Savory tannins, long finish ending with fruit, spice, oak and earthy character. Nice!

Like Northern Rhône in Northern California. Dense yet light with a blackness like charcoal going on. There is olives and iron mixed with dark fruit.

Hits all the notes for Syrah I'd expect from the Rhone plus some fleshy valor fruit. Good freshness. One of the better examples of the grape from CA.

Crushed dark fruit, menthol, drying tannins.

Concentrated dark berry fruit, slight menthol, deep fruit finish. Surprising combination of dark fruit and low alcohol (12.5%}.

Good concentration, clean herb-accented dark red fruit. Shows the vegetal and non-meaty side of the varietal. Some leaf litter and dried brush. Dark licorice.

Big, dense, jammy, smoky, old world esque but got buried in our lineup.

Spice, smoke, acid and pleasure. Stones and fresh blackberry juice more than meat. Pretty acidic for a red with this profile. Great, not quite as transportive as the last bottle.
