North Coast Syrah

Really great wines from Pax. So much Northern Rhône influence.

Clean, rich fruit with intense aromatics and a proportioned perimeter of iron & rocks.

Crunchy wine with nice low alcohol at 12.6 ABV. Tomato leaves, olives, salinity, savory notes, watermelon, tart raspberries. If you like Shiraz, you can safely ignore this wine.

Good white pepper and dark fruit. Not terribly complex

I liked the 2017 better, but this is still such a good value for the high quality.

Instant hit of (stewed?) fig on the nose on opening. Intense on the nose and smooth in the mouth, with bursts of black fruit and savoury kick. So good.

This is superb and balanced. I love the mushroom/leather undertones with supple norcal ripe fruits atop without any cloying at all. Seamless with just the right density at a low 12.5%

Tastes more like Saint Joseph than California. Not overripe, jammy, candied and syrupy.

Best $30 Syrah on the market.

Big with a soft finish. Savory and meaty.
