Paul Jaboulet Aîné
Parallèle 45 Côtes du Rhône Grenache Blend
Blend of 55% Grenache, 40% Syrah with 5% other varieties. Ruby color with aromas of red berry fruits with spicy notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry and raspberry, juicy with pleasant spices. Fine tannins, good balance with acidity, medium finish ending with fruit and spice. Consistent from year to year.

Oct 24th, 2021Sort of made a mistake here. I had ordered this thinking of another 15' Jaboulet wine I had in a tasting years back. Turns out it was the La Petite Chapelle after I digging up my notes. That I enjoyed immensely (even more so than the La Chapelle). This I didn't. Fruity and meaty. Finishes a little warm and short. Nothing wrong, but boring as can be. Inexpensive, so it's alright.

Jan 16th, 2020Can’t think of a better way to spend $15. ‘16 is a good year for rhones, and this one shows it.

Feb 21st, 2019My daughter Rebecca got me this for Fathers’ Day a few months ago and it’s delicious for a basic CDR. Ripe black raspberry fruit accented with earthy garrigue. Mouthfilling and balanced, with savory flavors including a bit a textbook iodine. Nice balance and length. That a mass-produced wine could easily compete with some artisanal alternatives is impressive.

Oct 4th, 2017Great easy Cote du Rhone. Gravel, wet stone, dirty spice, humming acidity. Fits the bill and perfectly adequate.

Jul 23rd, 2017Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, blueberries, plums, wood, earth, vegetables, coffee, vanilla, herbs, spices, tobacco leaf and peppercorn.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with plums, strawberries, currants, vanilla, licorice, herbs, spices, earth, wet leaves and peppercorn.
Nice finish with medium tannins and tart cherries.
This is a nice Côte du Rhône. A little unbalanced with mild complexity. Drinking very nicely now.
Better after an hour in a decanter, but drinkable right out of the bottle.
A blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah.
I paired it with a chicken flatbread.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
