Pop and pour down the drain. The alcohol dominated the nose and finish. In between there was a hint of French bistro character…. But this was a train wreck considering there are so many good new world GSMs at the same price as this motherland that messed up.

Sipping Fine Wine

Founded in 1834 by Antoine Jaboulet then passed to his sons Paul and Henry. In 2006, the Frey family, a champagne winemaker & owner of Château La Lagune took over the house. 100% Viognier from the south of the Rhône Valley. Straw with aromas of sweet tropical fruits. On the palate fresh pineapple and peach with honey notes. Nice structured acidity, medium finish, good value.

Elegant, well balanced CDR gsm blend. Pleasant, but not outstanding.

Stewy prunes, cassis, licorice, cinnamon, clove, and cardamom. Medium tannins, high acid, and moderate plus alcohol, the latter of which pushes the wine toward being too hot and throws it out of balance.

Initially, a lot of stable on the nose that blew off after airing, then ripe cherries, marzipan and spices came forward. The wine is medium bodied and well balanced with fine grained tannins. Jaboulet recommends to drink the wine young, but to me, this is a perfect time to drink it.
