Patrick Piuze
Vaulorent Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay

This one fared better than a few of my 2012s. Tastes like what I hope for when I open one of these- a briny swim with a slice of underripe melon. At one point, it hit me with a suggestion of pine nuts. Showing more stone fruit with air. This seems very ready to strut its stuff.

Piuze in his typically accidentally oxidiZed style. Kinda got beat by a Tribut villages from an inferior vintage.

Wow great example of what 1er cru should be. Typicity and transparency for days. Loving this!

This bottle showed a little better than the last, though the color was still a bit deep. Nice Chablis characteristics and a good pairing for a festival day!

A better showing than my first bottle, about 14 months later, but not a knockout and less racy than I had hoped. It did improve when paired with oysters, which filled in some missing tasting notes. Something I would expect from a villages wine at best. Continuing to drink up these wines as my faith in their ageability is all but nonexistent. Sansom St

Mar 5th, 2017Very subtlea aroma, white peach, underripe tropucal fruit, lime atone chalkiness, aminerality.Med body, high acid, mouth watering lemon juice, hint of spice and green apple on the first palate, second flavor ofsoft whute peach and minerality, sense of baking spices. Sense Definiyely need time to open it up, Delicate soft dry chablis(also classic) that you can expect. Med plus finish with delicate fruit and minerality. Can age wel. 5to 15 yrs. Oyster, salad with asia vinegratte, fresh ricotta cheese

Aug 27th, 2016Clearly benefited from a decantation, as it was at its best after 2 hours...

I think first time with this vineyard in Patrick's hands. On opening I thought "uh oh" and "not again." Definitely showing some oxidation and flattened acidity, notes of tropics, etc. Came around a little bit, certainly isn't fully premoxed but not at all where I expected this to be 3 years into life.
