La Loge aux Moines Pouilly-Fumé Sauvignon Blanc
A riper, sort of atypical Pouilly-Fume. But still very good, as long as you have an open mind. Very ripe, fruity nose shows very pure orchard fruit, with even some tropical fruit notes. No herbal stuff at all, and a subtly minerality underneath the wave of fruit. Rich and soft-textured in the mouth, lowish acids, rather full body. Detecting some oaky notes as well. More like a Napa rendition than the upper Loire. But again, still nice.

Dec 23rd, 2015If you would be sad not too have grass and pungent grapefruit in your Sauv Blanc, then this wine is not for you. The citrus runs more along the lines of oroblanco and Meyer Lemon, the herbs are like thyme and thyme blossoms, there is a flint strike mineral component and the mid palate effect of time on the lees. For me its a sure yes. For you, to be determined.
