Textbook CA Chardonnay with lemon, chamomile, the tiniest pat of butter and exactly the viscosity the palate craves. At under $20 I'm all about this on a stay home Saturday. — 8 years ago
This wine proves to me that if you think white wines are boring, it might be that you haven't had the right whites. I'm not all about finding excitement by searching out unlikely match-ups in region- varietal - style either. .. so what an I getting at here? The wine is freaking great and intriguing and on the inside is worth the moxie it flaunts on the outside. Every vintage varies slightly in the blend and with this 2014 it's 45% tocai friulano, 35% malvasia bianca and 20% ribolla gialla. Each of these characteristically Northern Italian grapes comes from Heritage Vineyard sites in Sonoma County and is masterfully guided into an artful blend by Enrico Bertoz, a native of Friuli himself. Lose yourself in a few bottles of this and don't bother coming back to another insipid boring uninspired mass produced excuse of a white wine ever again. — 9 years ago
Pleasant hazelnut and macadamia with a warm vanilla and caramel finish that isn't overbearing in sweetness. I enjoyed it a bit cooler than room temp and find a lot of fresh appeal in highlighting the acidity while subduing the alcohol. Nice stuff. — 8 years ago
The flinty, slate strewn, earth and mineral driven bouquet yields only to the embrace of an array of fresh citrus fruits - grapefruit, pomelo, eureka lemon, kaffir zest. A more satisfyingly complex palate could not be found after such an introduction. This is an inspiring sauvignon blanc moving us beyond like to love. — 8 years ago
2014| one of the more satisfactory Tablas whites I've had in a while. The nose shows a bit more character than usual... lemongrass, kaffir lime, and jasmine flower fill the aromatics with guava and green apple chiming in on the palate. Really pleasant. — 9 years ago
2012 | This cab never lets me down and I blindly place its price at 3x reality every time. I'm sure it will make a debut at Falling Bright in the very near future. — 9 years ago
2015 | Orange flower water, kaffir lime, green papaya, and Smarties waft up and give way to yuzu citrus, a dusty volcanic sensation, and snappy lemon acidity. Lively, lovely, and a good friend to weeknight supper. *Sidenote* our fall weather here in soCA was a balmy 95 degrees this late October day.... Zeitgeist rescued me from unseasonable warmth with their sunny disposition. — 8 years ago
2010| I hope I haven't proclaimed this aloud recently as I would hate to sound insincere, but I'm about to shout from the tabletop that this is quite possibly [one of] the best Grenache I have ever tasted. Ever. It is for forresty, funky, rustic yet elegant, true, balanced in all components. This will leave a lasting impression and possibly ruin me for other Grenache. — 8 years ago
2012| button mushrooms, pear crisp, chamomile, yarrow, and nutmeg. It's complex. It's delicious. It's thought provoking. And I love it. — 9 years ago

2013 Villa Dondona Dame Mourvedre by Domaine Lynch-Suquet | love, love, love this lifted, pure, and gorgeous expression of 100% Mourvedre. Cherry cordial and Christmas spices wrapped just the right wisp of wild hide. Preserved red plums and fresh rose petals come out to play on the palate. An amazing show of complexity and character. The structure is lithe and perfect with bright acidity — 8 years ago
