Decanted for 4 hours and consumed over the next 3. Dark tawny, almost opaque. Bright Barolo nose. Notes of ripe cherry, red roses, some anise, some tea, a hint of black tar and some wood. Dry and acidic in the mouth. The nose is the beauty of this wine. For the future, it’s questionable if the fruit will last long enough to wait for the acidity to soften enough.

Jun 23rd, 2021Deep and dark in the glass. Given a few hours of air in a decanter, the nose blossomed to show red fruit, roses, some wood, a little tar and some menthol. Still has some pucker in the mouth but the edges are rounded and this coats the mouth with great fruit and energy. Performed very well tonight.

Sep 3rd, 2019From a good looking bottle with a high fill and a solid cork seal. Out of the gate this is big and bold in the glass. Dark and opaque. With air this explodes in the glass, developing an amazing perfume. Notes of violets, rose petals, black earth, some cedar and a little soy sauce. Great balance in the mouth. Vibrant acidity. Long finish. Great showing!

Lovely fruit. Dark, tight, quite thick in the middle with tarry notes, some soft cherry. Smoke, tobacco, leather. Quality and good stuff.

Nov 18th, 2018Reddish tawny and opaque. Masculine nose. With air this opens up to show cherries, dried roses, tobacco, pepper and a little warm plum. Nice structure. Went well with the Italian fare we ordered up.

The winemaking here is very much in evidence, and obscured the classic features of an aged Barolo. Yet quite an achievement. Still massive and young, with dense, balanced structure. A powerful wine with brilliant fruit. Terrific with 6 hours of slow-o.
