Pahlmeyer
Jayson Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Pale lemon color with aromas of ripe fruits, citrus, toasty vanilla oak and floral spice notes. On the palate flavors of apple, peaches, pineapple and lemon citrus, well balanced with acidity on a nice creamy mouthfeel. Long finish ending with spicy vanilla oak, mineral and citrus notes, will continue to age. A big Chardonnay. Pair this with grilled Swordfish or spicy sushi.

May 11th, 2024Been a long time but I am coming back soon in full force - meanwhile a clue from this posting
Just commenting on the wine
Color is garnet and no watery edges and cannot see stem thus a deep garnet
Nose intensity is medium plus but as warming up is starting to have pronounced intensity with primary aromas of black cherries, blackberries and plums with cedar on a secondary note with tobacco and leather for tertiary notes
As this wine is showing tertiary notes this wine is developing status - I still think this wine could further develop
On the palette - sweetness level is dry with high mouth watering acidity, tannins almost silky but could be even further so I give it medium plus instead of high and with high alcohol thus leading to conclusion of full body with pronounced flavor intensity of the same notes on palette as aromas with the addition of blackcurrant leaf added and further notice of the leather and dried blackberries
Length is a full 30 seconds plus with is medium plus but frankly hard to not eat the steak as it matches perfectly with this wine so could be longer
Given this note the WSET would make me call this an outstanding wine because of good balance, great intensity, good complexity and finally a very nice length
Drink now but will most likely age
Welcome to my world of late guys and I will never be in the industry
Now all that said I rate it a 93 and RP rates this wine as a 93 and cellar tracker as a 92 that shows last 12 months scoring a slight decline
I would drink if you got them
Happy Valentine’s Day folks

Dec 26th, 2019Opened way too soon, but was worth it. Tasting voluptuous right now. Smooth and velvety with integrated tannins and silky finish.

Mar 17th, 2016Power and finesse! Young but showing really nicely. Chocolate, tobacco, red fruit, dark fruit...it may be young, but damn it's good...

Feb 11th, 2016Color: deep purple and red
Nose: slight fruit and a little vegetal
Palate: lovely silk tannins and body full definitely opens up with more open
Opinion: in a few years this would be incredible, not sure it makes it to the pahlmeyer merlot status though
