This one’s dialed up to 11. I don’t like my chards at 11.

The bottle presentation is something to write home about - creepy nude bottomless mannequins? Certainly sets you up for a weird evening. Tropical fruit to the point of fermented pineapple pina colada. Bright lime peel in the mid-palate quench down sip. Ruminating whiskey warmth on the finish which offers some oak. I would drink again but the first sip of this wine wasn't good. Needs time to ruminate and feel out the desires of the party.

Given that dinner called for white, I thought this would be interesting to revisit. I recall enjoying it the last time but I've purposely avoided reviewing my notes to see how I felt this time around.

Pale gold in the glass and quite viscous. Pineapple and other tropical fruits abound. It is rich and oily with moderate sweet intensity.

Although this is technically a Chardonnay, it must have the legal minimum because this is far more a blend.

Overall, a good showing and good QPR.

Wonderful evening at the City Club courtesy of Jeff’s hosting at the Friday group. Cellar guessing Jeff is a dangerous game as he’s the type who plans to throw curveballs! All wines served blind.

As stated above, this is a perfect example of a curveball. Most people guessed white burgundy, though I did guess west coast Chardonnay. No one would have guessed Jeff would serve this. Nose was quite clean with a sweet lemon cream note. Not overly buttery and oaked which I attribute to this not being 100% chard. I don’t normally like these wines, but tasting blind shows your true colors!

Like Chassagne/Meursault meets Northern Rhone ~ intense, rich & tropical, full volume yet finishes mineral & spice dry

Big profile in the mouth. Alcohol comes through. Pineapple. Apricot. Nectar. Creme brûlée. Would make a great dessert wine.

A 6 grape blend (76% Chardonnay) aged in 40% new French oak for 11 months. The grapes were sourced from several northern California regions including Napa Carneros and Sonoma Coast. Deep straw yellow with aromas of tropical fruits and sweet spice. The palate shows flavors of pineapple, melon, apple and hints of lemon rind with complex spice. The wine is well balanced with integrated oak, crisp, lively acidity and ends with a long finish. Very nice alternative to the 100% California Chardonnay!

Wow! Rich with loads of tropical fruit, also has a flowery aroma to this. This Chard/ Rousanne/ Marsanne/ Viognier blend is amazing. I say this is a natural 96 + rating here. Weird label!!

Flabby and lacking structure. Surprisingly dissapointing given their fabulous white blend from last year.
