We opened the 2021 Occidental Freestone-Occidental Pinot Noir. This is from the West Sonoma Coast. Wine Spectators #2 wine on their list of 100 is every bit deserving of this spot. If you are a lover of Pinot Noir this is a must have.

The nose is very beautifly expressive and aromas just jump out at you strawberry, cranberry, raspberry, sour cherry, clove, violets, baking spice, vanilla and forest floor.

On the palate is sour cherry, strawberry, raspberry, clove, kirsch, violets, spice and minerals.

This is a medium bodied wine with a smooth silky mouthfeel medium to medium + acidity and medium fine silky tannins that leaves you with a medium to long red fruit mineral earthy finish. What a beautiful wine. The week ahead looks very promising and let us all look forward to that enjoyable week we all look for. Please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷

Not at CHAN SHUN hall but tailgating in Oakland and the wine isn’t Kistler , it’s Freestone.

Medium Ruby with rich sweet red fruit aromas and herb spice notes on on this beauty from Steve Kistler. On the palate a rich full flavor of blackberry and cherry with cinnamon spice, oak and fine tannins. Crisp acidity, good balance, long ending with slight earthy character. Very Nice! Tasting well, enjoy over next decade!

13.5%. Plenty of cherry. Morello cherry. Dark Rasberries . Good acidity. Needs quite a bit of air. It has a lot of fruit but is not a fruit bomb. Well made closer to a Burgundy in style than the classic CA overcooked fruit bomb. At the moment no secondary flavors of interest. Needs time for the fruit baby fat to fade.

Very extracted and fruit forward. Laser focused and bright acidity. This is just a puppy…will likely fire on more cylinders with at least 2-3 more years in the bottle.

This finally opened the second night. Charred cherry. A bit of forest floor. It's tight and needs a few years.

Fruit forward, more fruity than the French counterpart. So good! 2nd Pinot noir of Steven’s tasting.
