It’s a bigger red, needs some decanting. After a few hours I get some whiffs of smoke and cocoa baking powder. Hints of coffee. Down the hatch it has medium/large tannins and bright acidity. Dark cherry and ganache. Some fruit compote. Nothing sweet. Well balanced. Give it time and it’s worth it.

The heavy hand of new French oak obliterates any terroir influence. Overripe, jammy blueberry and boysenberry along with cotton candy and vanilla flavors. #volcanicsoilstudy

Opened 2 hours early. Had found it’s rhythm, not overly tannic. But never got a special vibe from this. Checked the cab box but nothing more.

2/23 - opened very very tight and dry and super tannic. After hours in the air it is still tightly wound and needs years of stoarage but it could be a seriously muscular wine. 88. A lot of potential.

Nice high elevation expression of red hills…baked jammy fruit but with firm structured tannins…hint of spice and can taste the volcanic influence

Smooth, yet earthy, rich, but not overpowering Cabernet. Good balance. Tannins are just right. Hints of black cherry and chocolate. It would be good with a steak.
