Les Épenots Pommard 1er Cru Pinot Noir

rich aromatics, decadent. powerful, grippy, big juicy. tannins are firm but then open. dark. tobacco, coffee, meaty.

Dark fruit, dried earth, and grilled meat.

Deeply concentrated, quite inky color. Primary, embryonic notes of cassis, bitter apple pip, black fruits. The tannin structure is firm, chalky, long. Needs time and will improve.

I liked the Les Rugiens better, but this didn't suck.

Light and balanced. Delicious earth. Served with a multi course meal of salmon lobster beef and pork. Vibrant.

Slightly underwhelming given vineyard and vintage. Dark fruit. Low extraction but loads of power. Lots of tannic bite, even 12 years in. A little bit stemmy.

Amazing bouquet. Dark Cherry Smooth tannins.

Great red berries, forest floor and moss. A bit of funk at first but by second glass it blew off and more floral characteristics came over. And yes, the Pommard blood and iron were in play too.
