Clos des Chênes Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Fresh nose, dried cherry, raspberry, rose petals, some tannin, medium body, nice balance and good finish.

first bottle corked. Second ok but not a great wine. Drying finish and not smooth like Volnay. Average.

Pretty wine, fair slug of tannins and oak, well-fruited, needs lots more time—which sure surprised me.

Yes and yes.

What a bouquet of aroma! An airy intro followed by earthy and berry rush.

Black fruit aromas with a hint of earth and some oak. Plums, black currants and iron hit the palate. If served blind I would be hard-pressed to guess Volnay.


A powerful wine but not very Volnay like.
