Mid Lemon in colour. Vanilla oak aromas - peachy and rich. On the palate yellow peach and cream with Medium plus intensity. This style was popular in Australia in the 80’s and 90’s - think Rosemount Roxburgh and coined the style as “Dolly Parton” for obvious reasons. For lovers of full bodied Chardonnay. I hadn’t had a Chardonnay like this for a while and it was enjoyable. Ripe fruit, a touch too much oak and a great viscous texture on the palate. One of the 1001 Wines.

Monthly WTF wine group tasting. This month’s theme was chardonnay from any region or vintage. Nice eclectic bunch!

Another solid, classic Cali chard. These chards have always been consistent in profile and while JKongsgaard hasn’t been making the wines for quite a while, a lot of his style remains. Unfiltered and rich profile, but also soft, showing cotton candy, orange peel, juicy fruit, and a lemon cream type note. This is Hudson-like, with a little more restraint. Thanks

Unfiltered Chards are always fun. This one presented a cloudy yellow stone fruit experience. Neo-Soul would be a perfect match.

Newton was founded in 1977 by English businessman Peter Newton and his Chinese wife Su Hua. Straw yellow with aromas of stone fruits and sweet honey spice. On the palate this Napa Chard has concentrated fruits of peach and apple with bits of honey and citrus. Well balanced, nice acidity and lingers with toasty notes and citrus mineral ending. Very nice.

Gorgeous. This is the Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay. That is how it should be listed honestly. If you need a location, per the label Napa Valley.

Just one of the best Chardonnay's out there. From a red wine drinker, this one rocks.

Amazing. Not showing it's age. Still beautiful fruit, acidity, and a wonderful vanilla finish. Made from what is now Konggsguard's The Judge vineyard.
