I cooked Dover Sole tonight. Paired it with MFN. Surprisingly, I found this to be less focused and imprecise - flabby, actually. Good weight on the mid palate, but too soft and round at the edges - not a great compliment for the fish. Notes of beeswax honey, earthy with moderate sweetness. No acidity to talk about, and that maybe the main flaw here. Big disparity from the last time I tasted this. Wifey gave this 94, but editorial liberties have been applied to the final rating.

This wine sits golden in the glass and offers a beautiful nose of apricot, Meyer lemon and oak spice, with a nice dollop of salinity in the mix. That savory note explodes on the palate and brings all that lovely fruit along with it. The acidity is right on the mark - food friendly while maintaining the creamy mouthfeel. The oak treatment is noticeable, but not at all overdone, and it leaves a nearly buttery sensation on the lengthy finish.

My first Booker bottling, and it’s underwhelming. Ripe and a bit over-oaked, it has a strange bitter taste. Not my cup of tea.

Won’t you be my neighbor? ~ Mr. Rogers

The 2021 My Favorite Neighbor Blanc is a Paso Robles Chardonnay produced by Eric Jensen. This wine is delicious. Lively nose, racy acidity, layered complexity, and balance are just a few good descriptors for this wine. I would like to see how this wine evolves with a couple years of bottle age. It would be smart to add this to your list.

This wine falls in the “I’m glad I grabbed a few of these” category.
