Mt. Difficulty
Roaring Meg Pinot Noir
Delightful spice, earth, cherry nose. Palate is soft and long, mushrooms, damp earth, whispers of spices, dark cherry, dried herbs.

Apr 11th, 2021Inhale deeply, twigs and branches.
Light to medium body.
Classical forest, sweet cherry bark. Pomegranate, tart cherry, bacon fat, mint, bits of herb, and a lovely lightning bolt of acidity straight through the center of my tongue and lingering well into the next glass.
Central Otago Pinot. Yum.
This is what I want from a Pinot noir.

Medium ruby color, medium + aromas of spice, vanilla, violet, cherry, herbs, strawberry. A youthful wine with flavors of cherry, spice, nutmeg, raspberry, strawberry, and toast. A medium finish with medium + tannins.

Palate of; raspberries, dark cherries, cherries, plum, medium spice, light tannins & minerals with a lean body, high acidity that's easy to drink young. Photo of Mt. Difficulty and part of the outside patio. If I remember the Mt. Difficulty naming story correctly, it goes something like this...back in the 1850's, a man was looking for a an easy pass or way to across the mountain range into town (asuming Queenstown). Finally turned around, stating it was just to difficult to cross.

May 5th, 2017Light, soft, delicate light red florals, liquid violets, dark cherries, raspberries, strawberries, a bit of plum & blueberries and light soft spices on the nose. The body starts lean, thickens and gets darker with more tannin presence. The fruits are, blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, Then come, strawberries, plum, dry cranberries and blueberries as it settles on palate. Very soft & delicate baking spices of, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon and whispers of vanilla, light moist dark earth, shade's of soft silty chalkiness, mellow but bright acidity and a ripe, rich, polished finish. Beautiful Burgundian style. Top of the world Auckland.
