Bannockburn Pinot Noir
At a restaurant on the Gold Coast and not decanted. It would have benefited from one. Very closed. Half the fun of a good Pinot is the nose and this had none. After 90 minutes and with vigorous swirling red cherry and loam notes developing. The palate showing red berry fruits and spice - would love to try this in 10 years time but to drink now is basically infanticide. We visited there 10 plus years ago. Their premium Cuvée was Pipeclay Terrace.

Mar 25th, 2022Was not wowed, like I had hoped, and definitely not the value this should have been. A one note wine.

Sep 21st, 2020Elegant. mid intensity of ruby, not so translucent. Dark cherry, dark plum, liquorice and touch of oak. Dry, mid balanced acidity, mid tannin that is slightly astringent but good thickness it generates. Though relatively high ABV well balanced Central Otago PN. It can evolve more but also enjoyable now. ABV14.0%

Feb 9th, 2020This bottle would silence anyone in doubt about the quality potential of South Island Pinot Noir. This is all the more impressive for being tasted right off the back of a trip to Burgundy. Drinks like a good Chambolle 1er!

M+ tannins, slightly meaty, lean bodied, ripe, fruits of; blackberries, black cherries, black plum, cherries, strawberries & raspberries. Nice fine chalkiness, soft volcanic minerals, soft fragrant red florals, light spices with good acidity and good finish that also drinks well young. Photos of their old truck up on the ridge above their Cellar Door and the view of their part of the Central Otago valley floor.
