Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Better on Day 1 but still very enjoyable on Day 2. The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon pours a deep garnet/purple color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with significant staining and loads of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe black currants, blackberries, purple flowers, leaf tobacco, sweet minty herbal notes, espresso and stony, inorganic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin (integrating) and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes form the nose. The finish is medium+. To my palate, this is textbook Mt. Veeder and the 2014 is currently singing. Drink now through 2034+.

Dark berries, red licorice, cocoa, earth. All in good balance after a few hours in the decanter.

I’d put this in the category of “supremely balanced”. It could age another year or so but the tannins are like the harmony to the melody of the gourmet grape jam notes. Normally saying a wine reeked of grape jam would be an insult but this is...like artisan grape jam. With a hit of booze in it. That you’d spread on brioche. Not the most complex cab but really lovely. Soothing. Lullaby wine. Perfect pop n pour with a friend to round off a busy Monday.

Youthful, boisterous nose, characterized with sweet, smokey wood and meadow flowers. Palate is tight and tannic, displaying the typical Mt Veeder signature. Ripe presentation of fleshy blackcurrants and blueberries. Finishes with density and white pepper. Leave this for another 3 years at least.

Classic Mt Veeder Cab from Chris Carpenter, winemaker at Lokoya. Currants, black fruit on the nose. Flavors of cassis, currants and mocha held together with smooth tannins. Long finish. Consider this a baby Lokoya. Really good. 2014 vintage on September 13, 2018
