There’s something vaguely similar to langhe nebbiolo. Super crushable with pizza, but makes its seriousness known with a persistent black raspberry finish.

A producer I often check-in on at least once a year. I had never tried this cuvée before. Winemaker, Roland Velich delivers Blaufrankisch with added Zweigelt & Pinot Noir to this Austrian Burgenland blend. I’ve enjoyed it over two nights and at different temperatures. A fun try in all its forms. Straight out of the bottle it’s rugged and brambly, feeling as though I had just been bucked into a thicket of blackberries. With some air finesse settled in and the tannins became a more interesting texture play. On night two with a chill it showed more lead / graphite and plum driven fruit to add to my slice of berry cobbler.

Juicy and bright and feral and a little funky. Makes your dinner better, your palate happier and your spouse better looking. Super complex? Nope. Super charming and drinkable? You bet.

I never tire of this wine, especially since its a bit easier to get my hands on than the beautiful Blaufränkisch bottlings. So mineral and svelte, while remaining fresh and low alcohol. 🤸‍♂️

Fucking Moric. Even the entry level red blend is a deft and complex piece of work. More please!

Cool black and dark red fruits. Easy drinking, too easy. For the “ house” wine,
a special bottle.

Cool black fruits, black cherry, boysenberry. Refreshing. Gentle tannins under the palate. Nice acid lift. Drank w a slight chill.
