Enchanted Path McLaren Vale Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon
Still going strong...
A gift from our friend @Martin G Rivard several years ago - thank you my friend.
This is a departure from our Napa cabs, but very welcome.
The new pandemic is in this bottle: oak and spices dominate here. This is intensely complicated, and lacks linearity. In spite of this, it impresses. Fruits are so decadent - overripe cherries, with cinnamon rose petals and nutmeg notes coming along for the ride. Tannins are prominent, yet integrated. Swipe to the right on this.

Ok peeps, many people have asked for more deets regarding our little cellar...
1.8m x 0.6m x 2.25m. The floor is Portuguese black slate (1cm thick). Floor, walls and ceiling are insulated with high-density foam, which has a low thermal conductivity. Chiller is housed remotely. Ducting pulls clean air from outside, and dumps exhaust air outside. Basically, everything is custom - my design, and a great contractor realized our dream. @Mo Salem was instrumental with renovating our home, and the germ of the idea came from him.
This wine big and bold. Visually show its age. Cinnamon, cloves and pepper define the nose and palate. The oak monster is evident on the mid palate. Great tannins and complimentary acidity. This will sail on for another 5 years, but best consumed now.

Impossible to tell that this is made by a convict.
The nose ticks all the right boxes. Rose petals combine with toasty oak to shape the experience. Palate displays soft cherries, balsamic reduction, with hints of tobacco. Finishes with sweetness and perfect acidity. Our only bottle... sniff.
Screw cap to boot.

Mollydooker (Aussie for left-hander) Wines was established in 2005 by Sarah and Sparky Marquis and situated on the prime Seaview Ridge in McLaren Vale, South Australia. A blend of 70% Shiraz and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aromas of red berry fruit with a pleasant spice edge. On the palate cherry and strawberry with cinnamon and tobacco, cacao notes make the wine well balanced. Fine soft tannins showing some oakbon the lingering finish.

Apr 10th, 2017Super dark purplish red. Layered and complex nose with notes of cassis, black cherries, cinnamon, vanilla, caramel and even more red berries. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus bodied. Needed the 'Shake'. Still a bit of heat with tons of red berries, and a little graphite. Give it a long decant. Drink till 2022. (91+)
