Bric Balin Barbaresco Nebbiolo

My other favorite. So fantastic. Drinks like a Barolo.

Opened quickly. Approachable after about 30 mins from decanting. Substantial new oak which was mitigated by decanting. I'd do it again.

Elegant, earthy with a core of dark fruit. In a good place and an excellent pairing with local morels served with spaghetti carbonara.

This wine has a personality. Lots of character. Opens up perfect.

Over the holiday, I did an all-day experiment seeing how long this improved for! It really took 3 hours for it to go from tight and thin to full and beautiful, and at 9 hours it showed deep, sweet red cherries, roses, some inorganic earth (more mineral than tar), spice, and gorgeous soft tannins. At this point the year of French oak was showing as sweetness and spice, and was smoothly integrated. While delicious and worth it this way, I'd give it more time in bottle to develop more savory character.

Above all else, very elegant. Also concentrated and fresh. The bouquet is subtle with blackberries and plum. Full body with ripe tannins and medium-low acidity. Good flavor on the tongue with a lush texture. Decanted for several hours and never lost any flavor or body.

Strong aromas, but huge structure so very (too!) early to drink. Saving my other bottle of this for several years.
