Michel Arnould & Fils
Mémoire de Vignes Champagne Pinot Noir
J'aime le dimanche! This comes from Patrick Arnoulds oldest & best plot of Pinot in the grand cru of Verzenay. It could not have been more different than the William Deutz last night despite the varietal similarity. This was as precise as a Mesnil BdB, ultra long, chalky and a touch austere. The high toned red cherry Pinot was pure, cool and in spite of 6 years on the lees, there was too much concentration in the wine to show any toast.

1 person found it helpfulJun 6th, 2016Patrick Arnould passed over 2009 & 2010, but decided to make this 2011- a strange decision on paper. This all old-vine Pinot blanc de noir has it where it counts- in the bottle. Only 60 bottles for the USA, now 59. This seems lighter than past vintages, but still has that Nutella like hazelnut character that screams Verzenay. I will wait a year or two to have my next bottle for sure... But this long wine sure did go down easy last night!

Jun 25th, 2017This rich 2006 had everything going for it- hazelnut toast, tart cherry fruit and grand cru chalk drive. Wow!

Jun 29th, 2016Not a standard declared year for NMs, but a good year for this old vine gower-producer Champagne. Precise and delightful.

May 2nd, 2016Very light in color and on the palate. Showing more fruity Pinot Noir characters and slight toasty notes.

Jun 30th, 2015How does Patrick Arnould pack so much Pinot Noir scale and so much freshness into one bottle? Super old vines don't hurt, but this man has some magic!

Feb 21st, 2015One of my favorite producers, a very young wine, green grass and floral on the nose. Red apples on the palate, big mouthfeel and fruity. #bubbles
