Firing on all cylinders right out of the bottle. Crème de cassis, ripe blackberry, creamy dark chocolate, and some secondary peppered meat. Extracted and hedonistic, but not over done.

Sep 27th, 2016The nose is brambly, reminiscent of an immature CdP. On the palette, it's a touch gritty and sous bois. It has good extraction and sweetness, but the wood treatment, tannins and acidity are not integrated. This, in my opinion, is a common trait of this wine - disjointed. You need to enjoy a particular type of wine to appreciate this. Good, but not great. Enjoy by the glass, if possible.

Sep 4th, 2016This is rugged, complex and a little gnarly, but much improved from prior vintages. Barrel toast on the nose, lots of it. On the palette, it's a little disjointed, but somehow comes together on the finish. Finishes with oak, maple, caramel and Asian spices. Not convinced that this will go to a better place with age.
