Stellenbosch Chardonnay
Stellenbosch, Coastal Region, Western Cape, South Africa

Pale lemon yellow color with aromas of stone and citrus fruits with floral and nutty mineral notes. On the palate flavors of apple, peach and pear with citrus and nutty notes. Medium+ finish, lively crisp acidity, ending with fruit, spice, nuts and citrus mineral character.

A little shy on the nose, a little thin on the palate. Not memorable, but hits a lot of Chardonnay’s pleasant notes.

Citrus, pears and white flowers. Enough oak and malo to give it a creaminess with a porridge like mouthfeel, yet still retain a fresh crispness. Unexpectedly good.

Baked pear with savory spices. Lacking the weird swampy vegetal note in most SA chards. Almost a buttery character.

Light toffee notes with a bitter green quality on the finish.

A pale lemony wine with a medium nose of butter, oak and pear and melon.
The wine is dry, medium high acid, medium alcohol, full bodied with medium fruit intensity but the oak and butter notes overpower the fruit for me. Long finish of fresh pear and lees influence.
It’s a very good wine. Just not the style that I enjoy.
