I’ve always adored brilliant Chardonnay’s from Mayacamas, but this one is extra special. 2013 was the last vintage for this beauty. Vines were ripped out after the harvest. Don’t miss it if you have the chance.

Last vintage produced, this is now replanted to Cabernet. Really lovely and not showing any signs of age yet. Really bright and round. Citrus, wax, and fresh cut flowers.

Amazingly detailed and detuned for my limited experience of Napa Chardonnay. Traces of honey and funky nutty notes. Up there with Kongsgaard as my favourite US Chardonnay so far. As a general observation US Wines seem readily available in Denmark amongst the sea of Natural Wines.

The Terraces is named after a section of the Mayacamas estate that is, surprise surprise, terraced. This Chard is rich, tropical and delicious but not at all heavy. A treat to try.

Boom! If only all California Chardonnay could taste like this...a single block of old vines. Perfect touch of oaky vanilla but now overblown, great acidity and texture. Wow.

Terrific CA chard (which I don’t drink a lot of), with a great story. This is the final bottling of very old vines. This was great!

Drinking this on Chinese New Year and I swear I get a similar nose to baijiu.

Minutes after the pop. Light straw color. Visible body. Nose of wax up front with minerals, backed by soft butterscotch. A swirl exposes some petrol and kiwi. Richly textured, it covers the palette. Depth and breadth throughout. Beautiful acid and a lengthy finish. Fantastic!
