Weinhofmeisterei Federspiel Grüner Veltliner
@Delectable Wine - This is the Spitaler Smaragd. I am not a Gruner fan usually but this is nice. A bit riper and less herbal than I’m used to. Loads of ripe fruit (apple!) and subtle herbal notes. Round and deep in the mouth. Green vegetal notes are more prominent here but still in nice balance with the fruit.

Dec 24th, 2015Full bodied for a gruner. A little bit juicy, as I prefer it, with acidic finish to keep you coming back.

Aug 29th, 2024The second day after opening this was even better. Substantial body, and mineral comportment with constrained and elegant fruit.

Apr 21st, 2023Beautiful Federspiel wine from Wachau, good job done here with an absolute horror vintage. White florals in abundance with chamomile tea, pineapple, cut celery and lemon zest. Slightly oxidative and some damp cellar-like aromas. The faintest of TCA that wasn't unpleasant. Noticeable acidity, muted pineapple and some spice character with pithy grapefruit finish. It's not feeling insanely fresh and there is that slight, slight taint but it's still looking very good.
