The nose provides for a smooth entry with chalk, granite, exotic wood, cut flowers and cinnamon.
Palette is taut and complicated with clean, bright cherries, earthy tones and a prolonged finish. The tannins are drum-tight which prompted me to search for some cheese - due to a slightly tart finish, which provides a perfect end note for the wine.
This excellent aglianico will probably outlive me. Try it now and take another look 5 years from now. I'm sure it will have pretty much stood still.

This aglianico-based wine from Taurasi in southern Italy needs a few more years to smoothen out the rough tannins and develop the intense high-acid aromas into something more discernible. I am getting raspberries, bee-hive, earth and some oak in a chaotic mix. Hard to explain. Will try in 2-3 years.

Nov 27th, 2015Within one hour of opening, still tannic and a bit closed. The second day it was lovely, tannins much softer, rich fruit. Just a little cliff effect on the expression after a moment.

Feb 2nd, 2019Impressive and heavy as expected. I had a miss with the pairing and so the wine overpowered. (We has spinach cheese ravioli in butter sage sauce). It needed beef.
