I am currently a little disenchanted with #barbera I actually would recommend to myself and everyone to just skip regular Barberas and go only with the Superiores. It is somewhere between a Merlot a Nero d’Avola and a Nebbiolo. Lots of red fruit and usually medium(+) acidity but a bit flabby and just good. This Massolino is a very well grown and made expression of Barbera. Especially for the price. It is very affordable for what it’s worth. #piemonte #italy

Apr 14th, 2020Balsamic cherry notes on nose and palate. Light to medium bodied with medium intensity and light tannins. Perfectly balanced - nothing stands out. Easy to quaff.

Mar 1st, 2018Barbera is a bit of a workhorse grape in Piemonte, with its ripening and yielding ability. Although with legal yields set at 70hl/ha many wines do no justice the varietal, however when yields are kept in check it makes deliciously juicy and vibrant wines of substance • Blue fruited, plummy too, floral, underripe banana, dried brown spices and fennel seed. Juicy acid and a gentle picker of tannin. Nice mid palate weight but doesn't drive home the finish. Good drinking

2 people found it helpfulJun 1st, 2015Beautifully expressive wine. Intense violets with a barrage of red and black fruits. Wonderful minimal use of oak. The palate has been left alone with some nice texture and a long finish. Great to see a screw cap, do it on the Barolo as well please :)
