Mar 8th, 2022This was ready for business right from the get-go. Slightly hazy in the glass, was a striking ruby color. The fruit plays a predominate role but there’s good balance here. It lacks the structure for the long haul but it’s delicious now.

Initially dominated by tar and blackberries eventually developing a balsamic character and then a smell reminiscent of pasture land and cedar chest. Tart dark fruits and finished with a kiss of savory. Plenty of structure with mouth coating acids and firm tannins. Should have a lovely life ahead of it. My first time with this producer and it certainly won’t be my last.

1 person found it helpfulApr 28th, 2018Seems a little weightier than the last bottle I had a little over a year ago. And it's not bad for a 2011, whose wines, in the Langhe, I have found to be a bit scorchy and bitter. Old leather and some nice cherry fruit on the nose. Same in the mouth. Some puckery tannin coats the mouth. But it ends pretty clean. For under $20, hard to criticize. Good weekday evening dinner wine.

Mar 21st, 2017Needs air. These are second day notes. Light color. Classic Neb nose of dried cherry, dried rose petals, warm bricks and smoke. Spreads out nicely in the mouth. Tannic, but not too. Flavors linger. Wine- macerated cherry and minerals. Good balance. For under $20, good buy.
