Elegant and at 30 years really starting to show its age with a bit too much oxidation. The finesse and elegant structure, the valve between fruit and acidity is still there but the wine is showing mainly tertiary elements now - lots of dried herbs, mint, mushroom and earth with just hints of the plum, black cherry and blueberry that were once there. Very long finish ands very much for those who appreciate aged wines.

Against all my principles. I think Italians should have Italian grapes. But, this is truly outstanding, the smoothness of mature merlot and still the color has barely faded after 17 years. My one and only bottle.

On to the reds. My first time with a full bottle , previously only had  “pours”. I am judging this wine for what it is vs what I prefer to drink. Clearly a new world wine but not a fruit bomb . Wonderful concentration of fruit on the nose and palate . Of course oak is there but it is handled perfectly. Alcohol is shy. A beautiful satisfying wine that is so easy to drink with our steaks. I would love to taste this with another 10 years in the bottle.

Don’t drink this wine it is fully closed. Believe or not a client ordered this and left this and left half as bottle for us. Outstanding wine but not showing well, going through a closed patch.
