Tried the 2016 at a tasting. Tried the ‘15 twice and thought it was mediocre at best. Made from 40-year old vines in Cruz de Piedra, berry and spicy nose. Cherry and plum flavors with spice notes. Racy tannins but approachable. Needs a big food dish. This is a drink now!!wine!!Tasting Sample.

Dark red color. Aromas and flavors of blackberry and raspberry jam, leather, cedar, and stone. Medium-bodied with full tannins. Not as heavy or concentrated as California cabs. Exemplary of cedar notes. From wine tasting at Total Wine & More.

Color of dark ruby with a touch of purple, thick with many tear drops. Nose of cinnamon, milk chocolate, ripe cherry jam, oak, green pepper, and indeed some cured meat nose. Taste of oak, peppery, polished and mellow tannins, a bit zesty, a bit ripe cherry, grassy, but peppery notes really stands out. Aftertaste is again dominated by peppery note, zest, quite spicy and interesting.
