A very textbook example of a particular kind of Cote-Rotie - rich, grippy red fruit with tons of bacon. Not the more backwards, brambly, whole clustery style, just slutty syrah savoriness.

We finished surely too soon. But very good.

I have several of these and couldn't resist trying, forewarned it needed decanting several days. (If I store it, I wanna know the payoff and also educate my wine prognosticatorship). Saturday: Day one: tight but showing gifts (duh). Set aside. Day two: oh Oh!! Flowery structure, warmth, a bit of (good) horseshit. Day 3 (planned with beef) warm, integrated and lovely. Ok, now I can let the rest sleep. Come by in a decade, and if I like the menu...

Five hour decant. Still a baby but great bright fruit and acidity.

Man has this wine come a long way. It's finally open. It used to need 8-24 hours before it became civilized. Nose of violets, dark berry fruit, a skoche of wood, cocoa, mint, menthol. Palate is beautiful with lovely fruit and purity. Elegant as only Cote-Rotie can be with lovely juiciness and berry fruit. This is a pop and pour now but could use 30
Minutes to get to fireworks level. Great wine.

On day 3 it finally gets there. Not for the impatient.

Touch of oak. Dominated by its structure now. Needs 48 hours. Terrific material. Bury this.
