Trarbacher Ungsberg Rotwein Trocken Mosel Spätburgunder
Stunning nose and such a light color. Citrus, slate and red berries and red cherries. Woodland berries with tons of forest. Unreal spice and such pure aromas. Palate is super elegant and mineral with gossamer like texture and gorgeous early season cherries and such lovely citrus tang on the finish. Really amazing texture but this needs lots of air like his Rieslings. So juicy and such terrific freshness.

Dec 29th, 2024Wow. Some crazy wine.
Nose crazy fresh strawberries. Strawberry flowers. As this opens a gorgeous herbaceousness.
Palate: so fresh and mineral. Red Riesling. Early season cherries. So crazy precise. Brisset level precision. Almost unworldly precision. Hints of spice.
Long finish. Almost like dehydrated cherry dust and powdered minerals. Some elegant high quality cherry jam. Not jammy obviously.
A wine you sort of need to own. VERY distinctive.
Fass selections.

I am sure the Romans did grow some reds on the Mosel. So this is just a return to the roots! Anyways, very light in color essentially the same as the E&M Rose next to it. Some greenery Oregano? Hint Turmeric, pretty earthy, touch red current (no cherry at all!). Pretty complex. Spice driven. Needs food. A Somm wine for sure.

The 2021 Ungsberg Spätburgunder pours a stunning, pale ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with the most extraordinary display of forest strawberries, red flowers and alpine herbs that burst from the glass like a fresh katabatic wind. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. This finish is long. This was the second bottle of four that I purchased. The first was flawed. This, was brilliant. The hype is real. Drink now through 2036. Thanks for the assist @Lyle Fass
