Jan 23rd, 2023On night one, this was just pure pure fruit, but on night 2, more complexity is showing. The fruit is still remarkably intense and pure, but there is some beautiful slate on the nose to augment the ripe apple, peach, and fresh squeezed ripe lemon. The concentration of fruit in the mouth is hard to believe, but it’s not heavy. Rather, there is intense but submerged acidity and a prickle of minerality as well. An emerging hint of honeyed botrytis as well. This is going to last and improve for many many years.

Apr 11th, 2018@Lyle Fass tasting note says it all. An absolute stunning interpretation from a very down to earth, humbled, passionate wine producer who is still underrated imo.

1 person found it helpfulSep 18th, 2016Martin showed us this example to showcase how his wines age. This version has gaine so much extra complexity, open for another "step" in her life.

Sep 18th, 2016Saffron, mineral, peach, apricot, 30-40 botrytis. Swimming pool, round, balanced and great acid, mouthwatering, shows the class of Huhnerberg. (One of the best Spatlese he has ever made.) complex. @Delectable Wine not feinherb.

Aug 25th, 2016Nose is minerals and elegant green apple.
Palate is unreal. So elegant. Very low sweetness for a spatlese. A masterpiece
Had this a week in. It’s like willi Schaefer plus magic. That elegant tartness. And then just Filligree on top. Sweet elegance. My. Oh my. Long elegant green apple sugar finish. Oh my god.

Wow. One of the great vineyards of the world. A formerly ignored part of the mosel. Now famous because of high scores. Brilliant wines from auslese to off dry to dry. For my money the top producer in the mosel.
Nose is the best peaches in the world. Insane peach perfume as it opens.
Palate is perfect peaches and candies sugar made from peaches. Acidity crushes the palate. Huge acidity and freshness. Amazing. Texture is perfect. It lets you know who’s boss but doesn’t interfere.
As this opens it flays the palate with a whip made of magic peaches.
Still young. Will add complexity as it ages. Will last 40 years or more.
I’m having this with goat cheese and truffle honey.

This stuff is killer. Brown sugar and confectioners sugar, pears on the nose. Jackfruit, mango, whole lemons and spice on the palate. The spice blooms a bit - nutmeg and mace and even cayenne - on the finish, carried a long way. You could time it with a grandfather clock. I’ll be back soon with more. Minerals are good, modest in this wine but they’d probably be mind blowing in a less powerful riesling. Sweet/acid balance is perfect.
Day 2 is like I dumped day 1 in a fresh plastic decanter: swimming pool over all. I want a bottle of this to myself over the length of a party.

Don’t sleep on Müllen, Lyle is the only source.
