This was my only bottle.
Initial color is dusky brick with ruby glimmers.
Nose is muted, earthy, tertiary fruit character of dried cherry, some tobacco and some oak.
Medium bodied, slightly raspy tannin structure, as over oaked or over extracted. Missing the polish and glossy red fruit I hope to find in aged Rioja.
Served with rabbit and chicken paella and good friendship.

More developed than anticipated. Loaded with spice tho.

More like a good Reserva to me but good quality, especially from Garagiste at I think $20 as a mystery wine.

More nuanced than the last bottle, but with that it brings out more noticeable raisin and prune. The dill from the American oak was very obvious too, making it easy to pick this out in a blind tasting if you had to as a Rioja GR. All the markings of an old school Rioja. Considering most GR Rioja are $40 and up this is a great deal at half that price from Garagiste as a "Mystery Wine" special.

This a nice wine - won't hold up overnight I'm guessing - not tired but just past its peak - this is a food pairing dream ... Perhaps ... Salumi and gorgonzola

Darker fruit than expected on nose, but classic cherry in the mouth. Not quite as much complexity as one might have hoped, but a delicious, balanced, juicy Rioja
