Coombville is generally picked later. Some really late like Kobalt. Mark Herold picked this just about right. It is not overly sweet but has some sweetness.

Still loving the 2021’s. Rounding up to 94 here. The 2023’s aren’t out yet. Later next year, but I am hearing it maybe be better than 21. We’ll see…hearing that so far from people that have to sell it.

The is really nice blackberries, black raspberries, plum, dark cherries, creamy raspberries, black tea, black licorice, sandy loamy limestone earth, good presence of dark spice w/o much heat, as well, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, touch of vanilla, dark, turned earth, dry tobacco, used leather, dark flowers that are a combination of fresh & withering flowers, a nicely balanced, well made structured, tensioned, elegant finish that lasts 90 seconds and starts juicy and lands on spice & top soil.

Beautiful bouquet of candied, ruby fruits on the nose with some funk.

The tannins are soft, round yet meaty when you chew on it. Blackberries, black raspberries, purple fruits, juicy, dark cherries, creamy raspberries, strawberries, sweet tarriness, black and red licorice, dark cola, tree back, light dry herbs, dry tobacco, wood shaving to plank, nice soft spice, nutmeg, dark chocolate, understated cinnamon, vanilla, mixed floral bouquet of all color of florals, beautiful round acidity. Lush, round, well structured and balanced. Beautiful, fresh, ruby, juicy finish falling on to settled earthiness. It has that Rutherford dust thing.

This one will benefit nicely from 7-10 years of cellaring.

Sourced from Coombsville, deep Ruby with concentrated aromas, ripe black fruit, cedar, subtle nutty spice & floral notes. On the palate flavors of plum, blackcherry & blackberry currants, with oak, espresso and herb vanilla. Tannins are supple and powerfully persistent on a long elegant finish ending with fruit, cacao, vanilla & pronounced mineral tang. Drinks well now, a powerhouse, & will continue to develop over the next 15-20 years! Outstanding! Tasting Sample!

Still a bit tight. Tannins still evolving and front and center. Should evolve into a good wine.

Last minute late night pour. On the nose succulent dark berries laced in spices, eucalyptus and shrouded in youthful funk eager to be blown off with the proper amount of aeration. On the palate dark chocolate, holiday spices, cobbler, and blackberry jam. Nice acidity, pronounced tannins. I’m looking forward to day two.
