I completely agree with@Chris Maclean here. For an entry level #Barolo this is wonderful. Smooth and polished and so varietal. It’s pale color and smooth tannins beguile, it definitely has structure and fruit concentration to age.

Oct 17th, 2021Aromas of fresh dark berry fruits & spicy herb notes. On the palate flavors of cherry, plum and floral notes adding some licorice and cacao. Big rustic tannins, medium+ finish ending with spicy earthy notes.

Jun 20th, 2021I’m loving 2016s from northern Italy, especially reasonably priced entry level bottles like this Barolo. It’s crisp enough to drink well now, but there’s plenty of structure for the cellar.

1 person found it helpfulJun 5th, 2020I do enjoy a good wine on a Wednesday and tonight's wine does not disappoint. The 2011 M. Marengo Barolo is a nice wine at a reasonable price. This just goes to show you can find good barolo out there in the $20- $40 price range.
On the nose are notes of cherry, raspberry, plum, rose petals, mint and clay soil.
There is wonderful fruit on the palate that bursts into the senses. There is tart cherry, raspberry, plum, herbaceousness, anise, floral notes and freshly tilled clay soil.
The wine is medium to full bodied with medium + acidity and medium smooth grippy tannins.
All in all a very enjoyable wine that doesn't disappoint. Have a safe rest of the week. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷🖒

Quite a powerful Barolo. In a modern style as well. Alcohol and heat driven, but without over ripe fruit. Quite delicious rose and tobacco. Grippy but not dominant tannin. It's just that heat.
