Bright and deep yellow gold. Inviting nose of tangelo and cedar. Medium palate confirms the nose adding a mentholesque note and yellow fruit. Low acidity (that brightens up mid palate) leads to a smooth mouthfeel that almost drinks like a red. Lingering orangey finish. Gorgona is a prison island where the inmates -- in the last year of their sentence -- work in the vineyards and winery to develop skills that will help them reintegrate into society. The wine is a direct result of that program, and if it's any indication those inmates are on the right track. Drink now through 2028.

Was hoping for more given the cool story of the wine/terroir of Gorgona. Lacked acid and overall one noted for the price. Like zest, bay laurel, wild herbs.

Classic Vermintino Ansonica blend but terroir unique to the Isla di Gorgona (mermaid in Greek). Fleshy stone fruit and weighty brininess. A powerful wine. Made by rehabilitating prisoners from the penal colony there. Only two six packs in Northern California to be found at Kokkari and Evvia Estiatorios.

I like it, evolves nicely in the glass. Very leesy and salty finish. Made by prisoners!
