Castelgiocondo Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese

Fruit is still prominent! Soft tannins allow for a very approachable experience. Multi-layered...fresh cherry to start developing into anise...graphite...finish!

I've had this wine many times over the last 15 years (I bought too much) and this was by far its best showing.

Never a traditionalist’s favourite but surprisingly alive & yummy for age 18! (just wonder how little Sangiovese in it).

Starting to show its age

Solid, morello cherry, hot hay, herbs de Provence, good structure, but somehow lacks depth and complexity.

Rich velvety smooth flavors of cherry and chocolate, nearly perfect age to drink but probably much life ahead.

Mature but still drinking very well. Dried rose petals, mushrooms, truffles, liquorish, leather, dusty earth, a note of creamy blue fruits too. Still very good fruit, a little rusty iron back palate. Good acidity and tannic grip. Really really great.

This is near perfection - rich scents of violets and cherries, lush round abundant cherry and blueberry flavors and gentle tannins. Extended haunting finish. Years ahead of it.
