A blend of 75% Cab Sauv, 18% Sangiovese & 7% Cab Franc, dark Ruby with aromas of ripe berry fruits, floral spice and flinty notes. On the palate flavors of jammy blackberry, cherry and plum with cacao and herbs with slight minty edge. Soft tannins, well balanced with acidity, long finish ending with fruit, cedar and earthy tobacco. Very nice! Drinking well but will improve over next decade.

From a different source from my March bottle, this was equally a beast. Not showing quite as well, still a magical combination of black fruit and dark chocolate, even bigger than the average Solly. Needs time.

Sadly for this spectacular Solaia, it followed an epic ‘06 Ornellaia. Primary and rich on the licorice nose, broad tannins framed dark blackberry extract, black earth and saddle leather. Notes of cocoa. Even after 2 hours this beast screamed for more bottle time, confident it will score 1-2 pts higher in 3-5 years.

I would never pay 300€ for this but it is an amazing wine. Plums and cigar

This was a very young vintage and I was not particularly impressed with the wine. It reminded me of a really well made Napa Cabernet, with extremely big blue fruits and lighter red fruit. Smelled very syrupy and over extracted.

Still awesome today. Deep with cinnamon and spice. The fruit is getting a touch plummy but there is still some youth here. Great wine

The 2015 Solaia hasn’t moved much since I tasted it last year. In the glass, the 2015 is surprisingly fresh and vibrant for the vintage. Blackberry jam, blood orange, chocolate, licorice, cloves, lavender and menthol are all woven together, but the 2015 needs time to show the full breadth of its beauty, as there is a ton going on here. Vintage 2004 / 15 y old #tuscan for me the first time I taste this. It is impressive because of it’s elegance and finesse. High acidity. Tobacco. At treat to taste this.
